ISRID Conference- Des Moines, IA

This past weekend I traveled to Des Moines, IA for the ISRID (Iowa State Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) Fall Conference. It was a wonderful learning experience.
There were two wonderful presenters : Phyllis Perrin Wilcox from the Department of Linguistics at the University of New Mexico (UNM) who presented on "Metaphorical Mapping in American Sign Language" and Daniel J. Langholtz, LCSW, CDI who presented on "Vicarious Trauma" and how it affects the everyday lives of Sign Language Interpreters.

It was a great learning environment and a chance to re-connect with fellow colleagues. I learned information that I can put into practice everyday and make my role as a Sign Language Interpreter go above and beyond the call of duty.

"Take care of yourself, your profession, & eachother!"
This will benefit everyone!
